Originally from Mexico, I graduated from the National School of Biological Sciences in Mexico City, with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry &amp; Microbiology. After my college education I worked as a food microbiologist and spent eight years in Industry before returning to academia to obtain a Master\u2019s degree in Genetics &amp; Molecular Biology from CINVESTAV-IPN (The National Polytechnic Institute) in Mexico. Along with my family, I moved to the coldest place in the USA, Saranac Lake NY in 1998, where I worked four years in the cell signaling division of Upstate Biotechnology (UBI). Seeking for a \u201cwarmer\u201d place, I moved to Columbus and started as a Research Associate at the Jackman\u2019s Lab, where currently I&#8217;m working with the four Thg1 like proteins (TLPs) from the slime mold Dictyostelium discoideum to investigate their activity and participation in the 5\u2019 tRNA editing process.
