Personal Information: My name is Laura Dzugan and I am from Corbin, Kentucky. I attended Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama, and graduated in May 2011 with a B.S. in chemistry and a minor in bioinformatics. I was an active member of Samford’s local student chapter of the American Chemical Society. I also participated in a couple of summer research experiences: in the summer of 2008 I worked with Dr. Denise Gregory at Samford and in the summer 2010 I worked with Dr. William R. Heineman at the University of Cincinnati. Outside of school I enjoy settling the land of Catan, playing other games with my friends, going to the movies, playing volleyball, and reading.
Research Interests: I am working on developing a computational framework to understand the OH stretch region in the spectra of many H-bonded complexes. This is done by convoluting the harmonic spectra of the OH stretches evaluated over the range of sampled intermolecular geometries.
