tRNA Biology, RNA-protein interactions, Viruses<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Research in the Musier-Forsyth Laboratory<\/strong> focuses on retrovirus and coronavirus<\/p>\n\n\n\n RNA packaging by Gag\/nucleocapsid proteins, tRNA primer packaging and the<\/p>\n\n\n\n assembly of HIV-1 and HTLV-1 reverse transcriptase initiation complexes, the role of<\/p>\n\n\n\n host cell aminoacyl-tRNA synthetases and tRNAs in viral lifecycles, fidelity mechanisms<\/p>\n\n\n\n in protein translation, and mechanistic studies of disease-causing mutations in human<\/p>\n\n\n\n EPRS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Postdoctoral scientists have extensive opportunities for career development including<\/p>\n\n\n\n leading research projects, mentoring trainees, presenting research at local meetings<\/p>\n\n\n\n and national\/international conferences, and writing manuscripts and grant<\/p>\n\n\n\n applications. The lab is located in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry on<\/p>\n\n\n\n the main campus of Ohio State University. Lab members benefit from an extensive and<\/p>\n\n\n\n vibrant community of scientists interested in RNA and viruses through regular<\/p>\n\n\n\n meetings with members of the Centers for Retrovirus Research and RNA Biology and<\/p>\n\n\n\n the Infectious Disease Institute.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Job Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n We are looking for motivated scientists with the ability to work independently as well as<\/p>\n\n\n\n in a collaborative research team.
