{"id":502,"date":"2015-07-29T13:41:30","date_gmt":"2015-07-29T17:41:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/research.cbc.osu.edu\/nagib.1\/?page_id=502"},"modified":"2015-08-22T19:54:22","modified_gmt":"2015-08-22T23:54:22","slug":"outreach","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/research.cbc.osu.edu\/nagib.1\/links\/outreach\/","title":{"rendered":"Outreach"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Each\u00a0member of our team feels <em>incredibly lucky<\/em> to get to wake up everyday and do something we love:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Discover new science<\/strong>!<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Of course, we owe many of\u00a0these opportunities to\u00a0great mentors we have had over the years.\u00a0For this reason, we believe its important to <em>pay it forward<\/em> and help mentor\u00a0the next generation of aspiring scientists.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ff fruitful_sep ff-root\" style=\"height: 10px;background-color: #e0e0e0;\"><\/div>\n<p>Below are a few of the outreach programs that our group is actively involved in helping to inspire young future scientists.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/steamfactory.osu.edu\">The Steam Factory<\/a> &#8211; Interactive science demonstrations and discussions at the <a href=\"https:\/\/steamfactory.osu.edu\/programs\/markets\">Rich St\u00a0farmers&#8217; market<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/stemoutreach.osu.edu\/stem-programs\/breakfast-science-champions\">Breakfast of Science Champions<\/a> &#8211;\u00a0Annual event where we host\u00a0middle school students from\u00a0Columbus City Schools to explore\u00a0our labs and experience real science at work<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/stemoutreach.osu.edu\/stem-partnerships\/metro-high-school\">Metro Early College High School Internship<\/a> &#8211; Immersion program for excited H.S. students to experience scientific research through hands-on activities<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/chemistry.osu.edu\/undergraduate\/chemistry_club\">OSU Chemistry Club<\/a>*\u00a0&#8211; Undergraduate organization that exposes students to career opportunities in chemistry through invited speakers from local industries and academia, as well as participates in science demos and outreach events\u00a0<a class=\"ProfileHeaderCard-screennameLink u-linkComplex js-nav\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/OSUChemClub\">@<span class=\"u-linkComplex-target\">OSUChemClub<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/nobcche.org.ohio-state.edu\/\">NOBCChE<\/a>* &#8211; A diverse group of BSc &amp; PhD\u00a0minority students studying chemistry and supporting one another in successful science careers<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">*David is a faculty advisor for these clubs.
