She received her Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) in 2011, under the direction of Professor <a href=\"http:\/\/galileo.ucsd.edu\/index.html\">Judy Kim<\/a>, as an NSF Graduate Research Fellow and a National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate Fellow. During her graduate research, she used many different types of spectroscopy to study the structure and dynamics of amino acid radical intermediates in biological electron transfer reactions. He then continued at UC Davis as a Physical Chemistry graduate student where he initially studied metalloenzymes using a suite of spectroscopic techniques under the guidance of Professor Stephen Cramer and later the photoinduced dynamics of a photomagnetic cobalt dioxolene complex and several photoreceptor proteins using time and temperature resolved spectroscopies under the guidance of Professor Delmar Larsen. After earning his Ph.D. in Chemistry (2021), he joined the Shafaat Lab to develop a fundamental understanding of metalloenzymes that catalyze carbon-carbon bond formation by generating semisynthetic analogues and characterizing them with a suite of experimental and theoretical methods. <\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Email:<\/strong><\/span> jenkins.1395 [at] osu [dot] edu. <\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Fun Fact:<\/strong><\/span> During his time in the Cramer Lab, a senior graduate student told him to remember the Shafaat Lab for a prospective postdoc. She graduated from Seoul Women\u2019s University with a B.S. in Chemistry and Bio &amp; Environmental technology as a double major (2012). She then pursued her M.S. in Molecular Biology and Genetics at Seoul National University (2014), where she studied the antimicrobial and hemolytic effects of small peptides under the supervision of Professor Jaehoon Yu. She came to the States to start Ph.D. studies at University of Kansas, where she was trained as a bioinorganic scientist while working with manganese and late transition metal model complexes for structure-reactivity correlations under the guidance of Professor Timothy Jackson. While at UT Austin, she conducted research on the synthesis and characterization of dendrimer encapsulated nanoparticles as catalysts for the production of hydrogen. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. as a member of the Ohio State Chemistry and Biochemistry program in the inorganic division.
