Jennifer Ottesen is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at The Ohio State University. She is a faculty member of the OSBP Biochemistry Graduate Program, the Biophysics Graduate Program, the Cellular, Molecular and Biochemical Sciences Program, and the Chemistry-Biology Interface Training Program.
Dr. Ottesen received her B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Chicago. She was an NSF Graduate Research Fellow in the laboratory of Barbara Imperiali at Caltech and MIT and received her Ph.D. in Bioorganic Chemistry in 2001. She was a Merck Postdoctoral Fellow at Rockefeller University under the guidance of Tom Muir. Dr. Ottesen joined the faculty of OSU in 2005.
In 2008, she was honored with the Dean’s Award for Undergraduate Research Mentoring in the College of Biological Sciences. In 2009, she received an NSF-CAREER award from the National Science Foundation. She received the Honors Faculty Service Award from the OSU College of Arts & Sciences in 2017.
