Research Associate

I joined the Lab in 2007 after relocating to Ohio from Upstate New York. Originally from Mexico, I graduated from the National School of Biological Sciences in Mexico City, with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry & Microbiology. After my college education I worked as a food microbiologist and spent eight years in Industry before returning to academia to obtain a Master’s degree in Genetics & Molecular Biology from CINVESTAV-IPN (The National Polytechnic Institute) in Mexico. Along with my family, I moved to the coldest place in the USA, Saranac Lake NY in 1998, where I worked four years in the cell signaling division of Upstate Biotechnology (UBI). Seeking for a “warmer” place, I moved to Columbus and started as a Research Associate at the Jackman’s Lab, where currently I’m working with the four Thg1 like proteins (TLPs) from the slime mold Dictyostelium discoideum to investigate their activity and participation in the 5’ tRNA editing process. In my free time, I enjoy taking care and spending time with my two kids, my husband and our dog Maya.
