Olivia Roumaya

Ph.D. Student | Ohio State Biochemistry Program

Olivia graduated from Grand Valley State University in 2022 with her bachelor’s degree in biochemistry and a minor in biology. Her undergraduate research focused on characterizing the active site of an antibiotic resistant aminoglycoside nucleotidyltransferase enzyme, ANT(6)- Ia, from B. subtilis.

In the Jackman lab, Olivia studies the tRNA methyltransferase Trm10. Her current goal is to determine the mechanism and biological significance of a unique tRNA modification conserved across vertebrate species, using zebrafish and yeast as model organisms.

Outside of the lab, Olivia likes spending time outdoors, hammocking, and spending time with her cat, Greta.
