Jerry is from Denver, Colorado where he earned BS degrees in chemistry and physics from the Metropolitan State University. After working for a time, he eventually earned his PhD in physical chemistry from the University of Massachusetts-Boston in December 2014. His dissertation focused on studying the chemical/physical changes that carbon materials undergo during lithiation and formation of the solid electrolyte interphase layer. Afterwards, he was a postdoc at the Georgia Institute of Technology, where he worked on the application of metastable polymers to the fabrication/characterization of a multilayer board. In November 2017, Jerry joined the Wu group as a postdoc, where his research focuses on the K-O2 battery, advancing the prototype and studying the fundamental chemistry and kinetics. Outside of research, he enjoys reading, music, cycling, hiking/camping, and traveling. LinkedIn
