Lei is from Lianyungang, China and obtained his BS and MS in Materials Science and Technology from the Beijing University of Chemical Technology. After that, he received his PhD in Materials Science and Technology from the Tsinghua University in July 2018 and acquired his dual PhD degree in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in January 2018. Both his researches during PhD period focused on developing advanced electrode materials for next-generation high-energy batteries systems with long cycle life and low cost. In November 2018, Lei joined the Wu group as a postdoctoral researcher where he has been focusing on the development of promising prototypes for K-O2 batteries and studying various methods for alkali metal anodes protection. Outside of lab, Lei loves running, badminton, and soccer. LinkedIn
