Songyu Dong is from Beijing, China. She received her B.S. in biological sciences from Tsinghua University in 2016. At Tsinghua, she worked in Dr. Xinquan Wang’s lab, where she studied the structural features of IL-1 family cytokines in complex with IL-1 family receptors by x-ray crystallography.

Since joining the lab in March 2017, Songyu has been characterizing the activities of actin-specific ADP-Ribosylating toxins from various pathogenic bacteria.

Dr. Songyu successfully defended her Ph.D. in August of 2022 and joined the lab as a postdoctoral fellow in her transition to future career steps.
